PLANNING AHEAD FOR SUCCESS: THE BENEFITS OF PREPARATION
What are the benefits of preparation?
Does planning ahead and getting things done with time to spare feel
good to you?
It definitely does for me.
I live my life by deadlines, enforced or self imposed.
The ones I give myself may sound really sad to many of you but,
I realised a while back that, if you don’t set yourself some sort of timeline, things start to slip.
And that’s when apathy and procrastination start to creep in.
Let’s just call it self discipline instead of sad!
So, thinking about the benefits of preparation…
Just like decorating, which, incidentally takes me ages because, well
Firstly, I’m really particular about everything being right and
Secondly, I’m rubbish at it so it takes longer to do right!
The prep work feels daunting at the start, but once you’re in the groove with your sleeves rolled up, you want to finish the job and do it right.
Skip the prep and you’ll more than likely need to do the job again.
There are times of course when things go against you, so it’s important to stay realistic.
Stuff happens, it’s called life!
The crux is, a little planning and preparation goes a long way.
Preparation is the key to success in any endeavour.
Whether it’s tackling a complex project; giving a presentation; or even just completing daily tasks;
Planning and being prepared can make all the difference.
One of the main benefits of preparation is that it allows you to be more effective in your actions.
When you take the time to plan what needs to be done and how you will do it, you are able to approach tasks with more clarity and purpose.
This inevitably saves time and ensures that you are taking the right steps to achieving your goals.
It also helps you avoid unnecessary mistakes and setbacks.
Preparation instills confidence in your abilities which radiates through your actions and interactions.
And your confidence makes others trust in your ability to get things
done right.
In summary, planning and being prepared offer numerous benefits.
- We are more effective in our actions
- We avoid mistakes
- We approach tasks with confidence
Being prepared is not just for the Scouting community.
